I have been pretty busy over the last few weeks. I don't know why Summer seems to be much more busy than normal this year....but it certainly has kept me jumping. My FIL is having an 80th birthday party in August, Allie and I are taking a trip to my mother's this week, we've just gotten through with re-purposing one of the bedrooms into a media/movie room, & Jon is preparing to do his student teaching in the Fall.
The Media Room is taking shape nicely. Hutch painted it a darker neutral color [Olympic Paints- Earthy Cane] and we installed blackout drapes. All I have left to do is get two movie posters framed and get a black leather chair. We have another big cozy chair and ottoman in there now. My mother has one [comfy black leather chair] she wants to give me and I will be checking it out this week. Oh, and I'm changing the lampshade to a barrel shaped black one. Or I may just cover the one I have with some textured black material....can't decide.
Allie and I are looking forward to our trip to Mom's home. My cousin Jo called me last night wanting Hutch to do something computerish for her. She raises bloodhounds for law enforcement folks and one of her dogs 'saved the day', so to speak, and was featured on TV recently. She wants to add the video to her Facebook page. My long-suffering husband gets loads of calls like that and is always nice about being the family computer tech. I'll see Jo [and everyone else including my 98 yr old Aunt Myrt] when I go to Mom's.
I'm also going to hit my cousin Ronnie up for his salsa recipe [again]. He cans a tremendous amount of salsa each Summer from tomatoes he grows in his backyard. He gives the salsa as Christmas gifts. It is a gift folks fight over, let me tell you! Ronnie's salsa is the very best salsa I've ever had. So far he's been pretty hard to pin down on the EXACT recipe...but this time I'm bringing out the big guns [LOL] if I have to!!! Consider yourself warned Big Guy.
For fun we are going to the Agrirama- it's a sort of living history museum in Tifton, Ga. And we'll be going to a U Pick Em tomato and strawberry farm. We'll stop by and visit with all the kinfolk and friends. I'm especially looking forward to seeing Mr. Paul. He's Mom's special friend. He's a retired pastor who takes care of his invalid blind sister. I must confess he's one of my truly favorite people in the whole wide world.
He wears overalls, grew up on an old style farm, milked cows at a dairy to earn the money for seminary, and just loves to talk about the world and especially theology. He's so wise. It's fun to just sit and listen to him. He's the one who taught me how to milk a goat LOL.
Our landscaping turned out to be just what we'd hoped it would. We are still watering like crazy! But the results are lovely. I'll try to post some photos of the yard.
Hope wherever you are, it's warm and sunny, and your life is going well.
